Anniversaries

Today at water aerobics, one of the gals mentioned that she was going to be celebrating her 46th anniversary tomorrow. She has a goal to make it to their 50th - thus, one of the reasons she was there exercising. We congratulated her and commended her for her goal.
I was happy for her - but, when she said the part about trying to be around for her 50th anniversary I thought of how chances are Layne and I won't even make it to our 20th. (I think my eyes might have been a little wet at that point...the salty kind - not the chlorine kind. Who gets choked up during water aerobics? Seriously. Who does that? I'm hoping the others didn't notice.:}) In November we'll mark our 18th. It would be a true miracle if he were to still be around a couple of years later. Maybe we'll need to do something cool to celebrate.

  1. People dealing with cancer like you are get to cry whenever and wherever they need to, and water aerobics seems like a pretty fine place to do it.

  2. Celebrate your 18th like it was your 50th, we all know you guys have lived a full 50 years worth of life these past 18. It's your party and you can cry if you want to.

  3. 18 sounds like a great reason to celebrate. And almost 18 or almost 19 or almost 20 sounds like a good reason to cry. But forever sounds pretty good too. Lots of love coming your way.

  4. I am sure you must deal with this kind of thing far more than you let show. Anytime you want to cry, you deserve to do it....water aerobics or not.
WE have all been touched by your bravery and how you keep going on with life as normally as possible. Live it up for sure on the 18th, then the 19th, and 20th if that is possible. We'll take the kids at any time you may want to do this. Send our love, Mom

  5. If I were in Utah I would come and stay with the kids so you guys could get away...but Mom has already made that offer, and a way better one, since they can go to Mapletopia. :-) Live it up this year! You guys deserve it. 18 years is now longer than so many marriages last anyway, and every year is really something to celebrate. Love you guys!
